Chek Lap Kok Airport
A new 2 km long airport passenger terminal building accommodating both international and internal flights.
One of the largest and most prestigious contracts in the world at the time - this completely new airport was constructed to serve Hong Kong into the 21st Century and beyond. Built to serve a maximum capacity of 87 million people per year; capable of handling 19,000 units of luggage per hour, a roof area spanning 40 acres; and a terminal which is over 2 km long.
A tough hard wearing floor screed to BS 8204 category A, suitable to receive carpets and vinyl, super flat SR1 tolerances were demanded (max 3mm deviation over 2 metres). Screed had to be suitable for heavy duty use including baggage trolley traffic for a minimum 15 years. Very fast installation programme required 250,000m² of 100mm thick K-Screed to be installed within six months.
Isocrete K-Screed laid to a depth of 100m bonded with Polymer 70 in high traffic areas. This screed has high strength and resistance to traffic. Approved by the BBA and laid only by approved licensees.
